Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) has a database of known service related carcinogens. However, one of the most common chemicals that was widely used in the Canadian military in the seventies is Carbon Tetrachloride and it is not on the list. By making the Minister aware that there is a number of veterans who have contracted cancer as a result of their exposure to Carbon Tetrachloride it hoped that they will put on the list of known carcinogens which should make it easier for future claimants. As well, Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC) has been dealing with each of us individually and making each of us jump through the same hoops. It is further hoped that by making the Minister aware of this group of veterans that they will be inclined to recognize that we have a common source for our cancers and not ask each of us individually to get a statement from a doctor that our cancer is service related. ------------- * * * --------------
